FIELD CROPS COMMERCIAL FEATURE
CLASS 24 - FORAGE EXHIBIT

The St. Lawrence Valley Agricultural Society is sponsoring a forage exhibit as a special commercial feature in order to recognize the value of, and encourage production of, top quality forage.
Soil & Crop Members are encouraged to participate.
REGULATIONS:
1. All exhibitors must be members of the St. Lawrence Valley Agricultural Society2. All classes must be 2012 crop.
3. All exhibits will be shown in a special display. Inquire from the Secretary as to the location of this exhibit.
4. All entries must be submitted between 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on THURSDAY, AUGUST 9th to the west end of the Office/Annex. Judging will be done after 8:00 p.m. on the Thursday night.
5. All exhibits must be removed at 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the Fair.
6. All applicable rules of the St. Lawrence Valley Agricultural Society will apply.
7. Not more than one entry per class from each exhibitor or farm.
8. Hay will be displayed in plastic bags available from the Fair.
9. All hay will be judged on the basis of the following score card:

1 First cut hay alfalfa - 85% or more
2 First cut other legume - 85% or more
3 First cut grass
4 First cut legume and grass - 70%/30% either way
5 Second cut alfalfa or other legume, 85% or more legume
6 Second cut legume and grass - 70%/30% either way
7 Second cut grass
8 Haylage
9 First cut baleage
10 Second cut baleage
11 Corn silage
1st - $15 2nd - $12 3rd - $10
Stage of Maturity 30 points
Texture 20 points
Leafiness 20 points
Colour and Aroma 10 points
Conformity to class requirements 10 points
Purity 10 points
Total 100 points
SPECIAL PRIZE: The Grand Champion Hay Classes prize is one bag of seed corn donated by Munro Agromart Ltd.
