The 29th Annual Great Raisin River Footrace is one of Eastern Ontario's most historic running events in one of Canada's most historic towns - Williamstown. Come with the family and enjoy the oldest fair in Canada - The Williamstown Fair. Join hundreds of others on the scenic banks of the Great Raisin River.

Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION SITE:
Char-Lan District High School, Williamstown

EVENT DISTANCES: 11 km and 5 km

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
All runs start on the Fairgrounds, beside the ‘Meeting Place’. The 11 km is a scenic, flat, tree covered (well, at least the second half) run on a country road. It runs along both sides of the river and finishes back in the Fairgrounds. The 5 km run/walk is an out and back route.
Kids fun run: There will be a free fun run for children under 12 years of age. Kids will receive a ribbon and an iron-on race logo.

Celebrating Tom Longboat – 100 Years Ago

 The 30th Annual Great Raisin River Footrace is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Tom Longboat's historic run at the Williamstown Fair, a year after winning the Boston Marathon.  A special commemorative t-shirt has been designed and all participants will receive a Longboat certificate.  Come join us on August 10 and enjoy Canada's oldest annual fair.

MEDICAL SUPPORT: St John Ambulance on site.

FACILITIES ON SITE:
Toilets & showers at registration site, Char-Lan District High School (1/2 km from race start)

CHARITY – KIDS CAN FREE THE CHILDREN:
This year, the race will be run in support of "Kids Can Free the Children" (KCFTC), the largest network of children helping children in the world with over 100,000 youth involved in more than 35 countries. Char-Lan & District High School in Williamstown has a very active chapter that was responsible for recent construction of a school in a remote village in Ecuador and another school in Sierra Leone.

Look for water at 2K, 5K, 7K and 9.5K and of course at the finish line.
